Vital Intelligence
Captain Patrick Seidon is torn between his responsibility as the Commander-of-Jaegar-Forces and his orders from the Orion Battlegroup commander, Admiral Williams as the Battlegroup prepares to attack the Coalition forces in the Rigel system. Despite being threatened with court martial, Seidon goes beyond his orders and leads the entire Jaegar group in the battle.
After the Battlegroup falls into the trap set by Seidon’s old comrade, Cortina Daimeti, he become the defacto commander of the remnants of the Battlegroup and leads them out of the system and back to the Empirical Capital world, Asgard. On Asgard, a Naval Board of Inquiry questions the returning survivors and condemns Seidon for his actions.
Seidon refuses to accept the Naval Board of Inquiry's condemnation for the unorthodox tactics he uses to save the remnants of the Orion Battle Group and plots with his former commanding officer, Sheerna Marzda, to launch an operation behind enemy lines to turn the tide of the war.
Ordeal by Fire was the original title the sequel to Vital Intelligence. We have now changed the title to Master of Fate.
Master of Fate is the story of Operation Quasar, Seidon’s deep penetration campaign into the Coalition’s Corinthian corridor.
With only an obsolete ship and obsolete weapons, Kommodore Seidon leads a rag-tag crew of censured warriors, and the damned, deep behind enemy lines in an operation that holds the key to not only all their fates but that of the Empire as well.
I have reached out to Mark Malatesta, an author coach, to help me with the marketing of my novels. I am following his suggestion and will be breaking Ordeal by Fire into two books because the original is too long for a first time author. The title of the first book is Vital intelligence. There will be a revised first chapter that I hope to include within the next week.
Design of the Insignia of the 101st Escort has been completed!
Go to the novel section to preview the first chapter.
I have chosen this as the tentative cover
THE PIROA OSCILLATION
I am getting a number of hits on my blog about the Piroa Oscillation, so I have added the sections of The Sky People Arrive that are related to the Oscillation. I hope you enjoy the additional dialog.
THE NEMESIS MYTH
It is said that the myth of the vengeance of Nemesis comes from an ancient tale told of the Lazcar Peoples.
Legend states that before they came to live on their current home world of Cronus, they lived on Gerconia orbiting a distant, forgotten star located many parsecs away.
Gerconia was the favorite of her star and basked in its brilliance. Nemesis was less favored and was forced to travel the cold, outer regions. However, the star allowed him a companion, Troyus, to shine light on him during his cold, dark nights.
The tale reveals that Gerconia had no moons to call her own and thus her rotation was unstable. As the years stretched from eon to eon, her weather patterns shifted causing great climate changes.
So long as the Lazcar peoples remained nomadic herders and hunters, they could travel to the favored areas of their world.
However, as their population grew and they became tied to the land, the climate changes caused great loss of lives & riches.
Alas, there came a time when a traveler from a far distant world arrived. He promised to deliver a companion for Gerconia in return for his weight in gold. The foolish and greedy Praetorian ordered his men to kill the traveler, steal his ship, and to take Troyus from Nemesis.
Nemesis was so furious; he hurled himself at Gerconia, destroying both worlds. Troyus became so heart broken, she leaped to her death into their star.
The few surviving Lazcars were forced into exile in the cold, hard depths of space.
The Yggdrasil system has been identified!
With the help of Dr. Nollenberg at SUNY Oneonta has helped me identify the Yggdrasil system, the home of the Empirical Capital World, Asgard! The star system is identified as the HD37410 or HIP26510 system.
It is an Ao.5 class star located 360 light years away from Earth in the Constellation of Orion.
Asgard is the Capital World of the Keftiu Stellar Empire. It is located in the Yggdrasil (IG dra sil) Star system which is 126 parsecs away from Rigel. The system is a binary system containing Yggdrasil, a A0.5 class star, and Dreki, a red dwarf. They have an orbital period of 360 days. However, since Dreki is so small, there are no ISCZs. (Intra Stellar Clearance Zone)
Asgard is one of 11 planets and orbits Yggdrasil-Dreki every 7200 days. Asgard has one moon, Mani, which orbits Asgard every 20 days.
It is not possible to jump directly into the system due to the heavy traffic flow to and from Asgard. Therefore, a system of four ingress & egress Gateways have been constructed in the L4 & L5 Lagrange points of the Yggdrasil-Asgard and Asgard-Mani systems.
The Fleet has exclusive use of the Bilfrost Gateway, located at the Yggdrasil-Asgard L4 point, and that is where we will end our hyperspace jump. Bilfrost has been developed into the second largest maintenance and repair base in the Empire. We would arrive at Asgard in twenty-one days. The other surviving ships of the Battle Group would arrive there four days before Annaheimr.
The Karadon Gateway is located at the L5 Yggdrasil-Asgard point. It is the principal Gateway for the large Merchant ships and all Transshipping at Yggdrasil. The Janus Gateway is located at the L4 Asgard-Mani point and is the main passenger Gateway. The Garmish Gateway is located at the L5 Asgard-Mani point and is used by the small stellar and intra-system freighters.
The Sky People Arrive
The first novel in the Sky People Saga
August 11, 3114 BC
When the Space Liner Atlantis becomes irreparably damaged, Admiral Patrick Seidon must assume command and lead the nearly 10,000 survivors to early Bronze Age Earth. Facing a 500 year period before they can hope for rescue, they struggle to build new homes while striving to limit the impacts on the emerging Terrene societies.
The genesis of the Sky People saga.
The story of the Sky People began a number of years ago from a dream I had. In the dream, I was travelling on a Space Liner that had suffered extensive damage to her engines. Since I was good friends with the Chief Engineer, I headed to see him.
We met in the Engine Room and he told me, "We're not going to make it! They're going to blow! Don't worry, there is a habitable planet in this system that all the lifeboats can reach."
I headed back to my cabin to get my gear and just after I turned down a side corridor, I heard a massive explosion and saw a wall of flame shoot down the passageway I had just been in. I woke up at that point.
As we approached the end of the 12th B'ak'tun of the Maya Long Count calendar, I thought why did the Maya start with the 12th B'ak'tun and not the first? It would make sense if they adopted a calendar used by someone else. Whose calendar?
When I googled, "what happened on August 11, 3114 BC" (the first day of the 12th B’ak’tun) this is the result:
In August 11 3114 BC, the first written language was created by the Egyptians. Also A Mayan text hidden in Mexico talks about a ''Great Light'' and the Sky People came down from the heavens with fire and brimstone.
I added this to my dream and asked myself, what if Earth was that habitable planet in my dream?
